40th BIRTHDAY - A YEAR BELATED 5.14.15

Hi guys, it's me, that girl katie, I finally celebrated my 40th birthday - A Year Belated this past March. I had so much fun designing and hosting it that I decided to submit the party to Style Me Living and this week they featured it. Incase you missed the article, you can my description of the party + see more pictures RIGHT HERE.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the evening.

The party was also locally featured on The Scout Guide - Jackson Hole, WY.

It takes a village to pull off a party and I couldn't of done it without these fabulous vendors + friends:

A BIG thank you to everyone for celebrating life with me.

BIRTHDAY TREE - 11.26.14

Hi guys, it's me, that girl katie, 7 years ago today marked a big, wonderful, and exciting journey in my life, I become a MOM!

I adore my mom and she taught me everything I know about being a mom. One of the many things she gave me was her time making holiday's, parties and play dates feel so special. As a kid I imagine I took them for granted or wasn't always appreciative but now I hold on tight to those memories. I guess as the saying goes, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" because it's very important for me to also give my kids special and meaningful moments but with my added creative twist.

So, I saw the idea of a BIRTHDAY TREE in a magazine a few years ago and have had this DIY on my mind ever since.

Apparently, I am not the only one with this idea.

I wanted to really personalize the BIRTHDAY TREE I had purchased at etsy with ornaments from each year of my daughters life. Some ornaments I put the party invitation and some are with friends.

I used my Cricut Explore to cut out all the frame shapes + the birthday numbers + the star garland + the balloons. Of course every year she will get a new ornament and I imagine I will also add some other tree decoration too.

My daughter LOVES it and I could see that extra sparkle in her eye of feeling special. It was a great way to celebrate her life while also looking back at how lucky I am to be her MOM.

I am very thankful for today!

STACY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY - 6.17.14

Hi guys, it’s me, that girl katie, Today would be my sister's 43rd Birthday! Although she isn't here to physically celebrate it, I knew I wanted to honor and celebrate her in a special way.

For those who weren't able to attend her service, I produced the slideshow above that was presented as people entered the church.

But I also wanted to love Stacy in the same way she loved me on my birthday this year.

A month before Stacy died was my birthday and as she said it "Apparently, turning 40 is a big f-ing deal" Although, with all that went on I really didn't and haven't had time to think about this monumental birthday. All I really wanted for my birthday were cards and Stacy sent me a card that I will cherish for the rest of my life. In the card she wrote, 40 things she loved about me (Hello, tear jerker) So, I wanted to do the same for her.

I miss my sister HEAPS & HEAPS and think about her daily. Stacy and I had so many good times together and I am trying to focus on all the happy memories we shared over the last 40 years.

Thank you so much for all your love, support and generosity. It truly makes choosing happiness that much easier and I believe that is what Stacy would want for everyone.

MARCH 24TH

Hey guys, it's me, that girl katie, For the last couple of days my iCal calendar has been reminding me that my birthday is coming up and today is the day. Like I would forget and in a way this year I did want to hide under a rock but hey, thanks iCal for the reminder. I plan to post more about how I feel about this birthday but for now I thought I would share my personal birthday quote to myself.

CUSTOM INK TRUCKER HAT

Hey guys, it's me, that girl katie, A few months ago my husband had a monumental birthday and like most guys he could of cared less and was very clear he didn't want a big celebration.

While I was thrilled I got a hall pass for planning a surprise party, I knew I wanted to create something special for him.

So, I decided I would design a hat and send a bunch with him on his annual guys ski trip.

Steps: 1. Discovered CustomInk 2. Created an account and uploaded a picture 3. The Art Department turned my image into a B & W character image 4. Added the glass and bottle 5. Approved design 6. Purchased

It took a few phone calls but it was an easy process. The staff at CustomInk were very friendly and easy to work with.
